Job Description: Medical Assistant

We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, interact with patients, and contribute to improving health outcomes.

Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care: Assist healthcare providers in conducting patient assessments, obtaining vital signs, and documenting medical histories. Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.

2. Clinical Procedures: Perform routine clinical procedures, such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (ECG), wound care, and specimen collection. Administer medications, vaccines, and immunizations under the direction and supervision of licensed healthcare providers.

3. Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient demographics, medical histories, and treatment plans. Enter data into electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.

4. Patient Education: Provide patient education on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care management. Explain treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow-up recommendations to patients and their families, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.

5. Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks to support clinic operations, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, verifying insurance coverage, and processing referrals. Assist with medical billing and coding as needed.

6. Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and guidelines to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Maintain cleanliness and sterility in examination rooms, equipment, and supplies, following established protocols for disinfection and sterilization.

7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare providers, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, facilitate communication, and ensure continuity of care across settings.

Requirements:

1. Education: Completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited institution. Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required.

2. Experience: Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred but not required for entry-level positions. Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.

3. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Empathy, compassion, and a customer service-oriented approach to patient care.

4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in basic clinical skills, such as taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy, and using medical equipment and instruments. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical terminology.
